Syngenta Flowers has unveiled its latest innovation at IPM Essen—the Penny Pro Viola Cornuta series. This new lineup is designed for spring and autumn production, offering growers improved resilience, vibrant colours, and consistent growth.

With a strong focus on reliability and robustness, Penny Pro is set to redefine seasonal flower cultivation. Experts behind the project say it is tailored to help growers maximise sales during peak periods while ensuring a visually striking display.

Penny Pro: A Game-Changer for Growers

Penny Pro isn’t just another Viola Cornuta series—it’s a carefully bred and tested floral powerhouse. According to Jeanine Janssen, the breeder behind the project, the goal was to create a variety that thrives in diverse climates and meets growers’ commercial demands.

“We focused on reliability and robustness, ensuring Penny Pro performs well across different conditions and seasons,” she shared. “We also worked on bright, eye-catching colours and uniformity to give growers an edge in the market.”

The new series comes in 13 colours and is suited for both 6-pack and 10-pack production, making it versatile and convenient. It is not only easy to grow but also holds colour longer, ensuring customers get fresh, long-lasting blooms.

Advanced Trials and Breeding Ensure Peak Performance

Syngenta Flowers didn’t take shortcuts when developing Penny Pro. Extensive trials were conducted over several years, using advanced phenotyping techniques like drones and time-lapse technology.

According to Ronald Karsenbarg, Technical Specialist for Biennials, over 300 growers tested Penny Pro before its launch. Their positive feedback matched Syngenta’s own results, confirming its strong market potential.

“Penny Pro underwent rigorous testing, not only for its appearance but also for its durability and performance,” he explained. “The goal was to ensure that it meets real-world demands before release.”

With this cutting-edge breeding, Syngenta Flowers is setting a new standard in the Viola Cornuta market. Growers can expect reliable, stunning flowers that thrive in both spring and autumn seasons.
