In a heartfelt announcement, a local lavender farm Hitchin Lavender has issued a plea to visitors to avoid damaging their lavender bushes. The video highlights the distressing sight of hundreds of lavender plants, aged between 10 and 25 years, being destroyed by visitors attempting to sit on them.
From the grower: “Lavenders take years to mature. In 10 seconds hundreds of our bushes (the majority of which are between 10 and 25 years old) are being killed by some visitors wanting to sit on them..?”
Hitchin Lavender, located at Cadwell Farm in Ickleford, Hertfordshire, is a family-run business owned and managed by Tim Hunter and Maria Noel Castro. The Hunter family has been farming for over five generations, with a history at Cadwell Farm spanning more than 120 years. The farm diversified into lavender in 2000 under Alec and Zoë Hunter, turning what started as an agricultural experiment into a popular tourist destination.
