After one of the wonderful afternoons in 2023, which was its 122nd Flower Show, the Deskford Flower Show returns again for the 123rd time. The Deskford Flower Show, now in its remarkable 123rd year, promises a day filled with vibrant blooms, friendly competition, and community spirit. Taking place at the Deskford Community Centre, this event has been a staple in the local calendar since its inception by the Deskford Horticultural Society in 1887. It offers a wonderful opportunity for both seasoned gardeners and newcomers to showcase their talents and celebrate the joys of horticulture.

This year’s Deskford Flower Show promises to be a “blooming” great afternoon for all, with a wide range of categories and classes that cater to various interests. Competitors will pit their green fingers against each other in categories such as flowers, floral art, vegetables, and industrial arts. Highlights include the coveted Baldwin Cup for Most Points Overall (Gents), which was claimed last year by Graeme Clark, and the Rose Bowl for Most Points Overall (Ladies), won by Moyra Hendry in 2023. The event is expected to see a strong turnout of both veteran participants and new faces, all eager to leave their mark on this historic show.

The Deskford Flower Show will take place on Saturday, August 17th, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Deskford Community Hall in Buckie. The event, organized by the Deskford Horticultural Society, will feature a variety of competition classes, including pot plants, cut flowers, sweet peas, floral arrangements, fruit, vegetables, honey, dairy produce, preserves, home baking, homemade wine, and scholar categories.
In addition to the competitions, there will be teas and coffees served in the Jubilee Hall, a raffle, and entertainment that may include music and dancers. The prize-giving ceremony is scheduled for 4:30 pm, ensuring a memorable end to a delightful afternoon.
