Spanning a vast 25 acres, the fields are bursting with a vibrant mix of delphiniums, cornflowers, sunflowers, and wildflowers. It’s a sight that stretches as far as the eye can see, covering an area equivalent to 400 tennis courts. For a limited time, ticket holders can immerse themselves in this floral paradise, which promises to be a feast for the eyes and a delight for photographers.
Ashley Evers-Swindell from Shropshire Petals shared how challenging the journey has been. Speaking to BBC Radio Shropshire, she revealed that wet weather caused significant delays in their planting schedule, putting them two weeks behind. “The weather is immensely worrying; it has been inconsistent and incredibly wet. We had really worrying times at the beginning of the planting season and were not sure that this would happen,” she said.
Despite the setbacks, the team’s hard work has paid off. To combat the weather issues, they planted the seeds later than usual, but the results are nothing short of spectacular. Evers-Swindell expressed her relief and joy, saying, “But my gosh, we made it, we’re here, the sleepless nights and worry have been worth it as we’re surrounded by flowers.”
For photography enthusiasts, a special sunset session is planned for the evening of August 17, which Evers-Swindell described as a “photographer’s dream.” Visitors are encouraged to grab their cameras and capture the beauty of Shropshire Petal Fields in the golden light of dusk.
